FAQ
The cost of a basic replacement key is €30.00.

However, the key will also need to be programmed to match your car which takes anything upto a half an hour at a cost of €30.00.

So all in all, it will cost around €60.00 + vat.

We are often asked why is it necessary to also program the key? The reason for this is that all Fords use what’s called a Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS). This disables your vehicle's starter unless your specially programmed key is used to start the vehicle. There is a computer chip inside of the key, and without that you will NOT be able to start the vehicle. If someone managed to get hold of one of your keys and just cut a copy (without the chip), it would not work.

So this extra security feature does cost a little bit extra but it is designed to ensure the security of your car.

If you have purchased a new car, we generally advise our customers to bring that car back to the dealership on 5,000 miles/8,000 kms for their first service. We do this to inspect the car and ensure that is in perfect running order. Additionally, we advise that the customer return on 10,000 mls/16,000 kms and 20,000 mls/32,000 kms and therafter, every 10,000 mls.

Our experience tells us that cars which are regularly serviced are less likely to experience early tyre wear, have better fuel efficiency and experience less wear and tear on the engine. Furthermore, the car undergoes a full diagnostic check (using IDS - the latest technology that Ford have released) to ensure the continued smooth running of the vehicle.

First of all, not every Ford model has a timing belt. The best thing to do is to drop me a line stating your make, model, year and mileage and I will advise and quote on replacement time and fitting cost for a timing belt. Back to Top

In general all cars that formerly have a radio/casette player can be re-fitted with a CD player. We would advise you to bring in your car when we can examine and identify a suitable model and quote you accordingly. Back to Top
For people that don't reach the manufacturer's suggested service interval (usually 16,000kms or 10,000 mls) in one year, it is generally accepted that they should service their cars at least once a year. Reaching a certain mileage is not the only thing that will give rise to a service and factors such as evaporation, wear & tear, degradation of pipes and rubber fittings will all occur during a cars lifetime independent of mileage done. The short answer is no. Some cars used a chain driven system. Examples include: certain Mondeo models, Fiestas and some Focus models. Please consult with your Service Advisor to check your car. Back to Top
In general, we advise doing this as part of a major service which we suggest should be every second service (approx every 30,000kms). In between it should be sufficient to just get the oil and oil filter changed with every minor service (every 16,000kms). Back to Top
We asked the NCT people if this was a pass/fail item and we were told that it's not. In other words, you can pass your test though your engine management light may be on. However, this may point to an underlying problem which needs to be addressed or it may just require that your car is re-programmed to clear the light if their is no root cause so please talk to one of our Service Advisors about this. "Hi i have a general question, i ran my car for 20 minutes this morning before driving to work which only took 5 min, when i went to start the car 2 hours later it would not start the battery is completely dead, the weather is -8 degrees, can this cause the battery to go dead and will it start with a jump and will the battery be damaged".

A: Yes, the battery can still go dead even if you successfully started the car that day. Short runs are not sufficient to keep some older/lower amp batteries charged up in severe weather.

You will be able to get the car started with either a push start (going from neutral to 2nd gear) or good quality jump leads thick enough to transfer a sufficient charge. When doing both, make sure all ancillary devices are turned off (radio, heaters, fans, lights etc).

Then, when you get it to the garage, get them to check the charge level in the battery. Either the charge will be too low or there could be a cell gone in the battery causing it to deliver too low an output to get the car started.
