Cavanaghs of Charleville played a leading role in a recent radio competition run by Limerick’s Live 95 FM. A Hyundai i30 was put up to be won by Cavanaghs, Hyundai Ireland and Limerick Motor Centre in what was billed as the radio station’s biggest ever give away. The superb Hyundai i30 deluxe car on offer is valued at close to €20,000.

The Live 95FM drive away ran on air for four weeks in March and April and comprised a text competition where listeners had to send in the title of a song by the musical artist of the day. These artists included Queen, U2, Prince, Bob Marley and Amy Winehouse amongst others.

At the end of the month long competition, 48 qualifiers were invited to the Crescent Shopping Centre in Dooradoyle, where the car had been on display throughout the competition. An exciting eliminator was run, which was also broadcast live on air by Live 95 FM and left five contestants holding an electronic fob each, only one of which opened the red Hyundai i30 sitting on the concourse in front of them.

A huge crowd saw a delighted Michelle Brophy from Carew Park become the lucky winner of the big prize and drive away in the brand new car. She could not believe her good fortune when the key she held activated the shining red car. Onlookers and shoppers congratulated Michelle on what will be a day she will never forget.

Sales and Marketing Manager with Cavanaghs of Charleville, Hugh Sheehy was delighted with the success of the drive away. “We would like to sincerely thank our partners Limerick Radio, Hyundai Ireland and the Limerick Motor Centre, as well as the Crescent Shopping Centre for putting the car on display for the four weeks. The competition was a huge success and we enjoyed a tremendous response from the people of Limerick".
